China Network Television (International)

China Network Television (CNTV) is a national web-based TV broadcaster officially launched on December 28, 2009. CNTV International offers foreign language services in 5 languages so far, containing English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic channels. They also provide viewers with a host of news and feature programs from China National Television's foreign channels (CCTV-News, CCTV-F, CCTV-E, CCTV-Pусский (Russian) and CCTV-العربية (Arabic)).

About CNTV

CNTV, owned by China Central Television (CCTV), was launched as a national Internet TV station. It serves as a multi-language, globalized and multi-terminal online video platform. The current channels of CNTV include news, finance, sports, entertainment, movie, TV drama, documentary and podcasts. In 2010, CNTV is launching additional channels including weather, education, travel, and music.[1].

CCTV-News Programming

The channel grew out of CCTV International, which was launched on September 25, 2000. The Channel name of "CCTV-9" was changed to "CCTV News" from 19:00 pm (Beijing Time) on April 26, 2010. It offers a wide range of coverage includes newscasts, in-depth reports, and commentary programs, as well as a host of feature presentations.

The most prominent programs on CCTV NEWS include News Update and News Hour, providing comprehensive global coverage; China 24 and Asia Today, delivering the latest domestic and regional developments. Specialized programs Biz Asia, Biz Talk, New Money, Culture Express, and Sports Scene supply news and information on business, finance, economics, culture, and sports. Shows such as Dialogue and World Insight extend balanced and critical perspectives on current affairs affecting all corners of the globe.

Viewers also have a variety of choices from CCTV NEWS feature programs on the culture, history, and modern society of China and Asia. In Crossover, hosts and guests of various backgrounds and experiences talk about issues throughout China. Travelogue is the ticket to dynamic and exciting landscapes in China and abroad. Rediscovering China explores contemporary Chinese and Asian culture and social changes through the eyes of international visitors. And Story Board delivers a visual profile of all Asian countries.

English Anchors

Tian Wei is the Moderator for CCTV-News's prime time talk show, "Dialogue", a daily interview program featuring domestic issues and international affairs. She is a regular anchor of CCTV's special coverage of important domestic and international events.

Yang Rui is the producer and anchor of the 30-minute talk show Dialogue.

Kimberley Harper is Biz Asia's exclusive anchor, weeknights at 6pm and 9:20pm. Kimberley is from Australia, where she worked for Network Ten as a reporter. During her five years there, she covered a broad range of stories from major bushfires to the 'Tour Down Under’. She also got a taste of business news, covering the real estate market.

Ji Xiaojun is a host of Culture Express.

Murray Clive grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. He's now host of Rediscovering China.
