Midweek Chronicle

Midweek Chronicle

The Midweek Chronicle is a free weekly newspaper distributed around Chester, England, by Trinity Mirror. It acts as a sister publication to the Chester Chronicle, and frequently advertises competitions run by the Chronicle in order to boost sales of this paper.

The newspaper had been known as the Chester Mail until June 2006. However, the format of the paper is now very different and acts as more of a preview to the Chester Chronicle which is published every Friday. The midweek Chronicle is typically delivered, free of charge, to every address in Chester on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Whilst the front cover of the Chester Mail was almost all devoted to advertisements, the Midweek Chronicle carries more news on the first page. There is also a new comments and letters section which covers one page, and is a preview to the four pages of letters in the Friday Chronicle. It is thought that the main reason for publishing some comments midweek is that the number of letters being sent to the Chronicle is rapidly increasing. There is also a higher proportion of news to advertising in the Midweek Chronicle than there was in the Mail.

The Midweek Chronicle joins a set of three newspapers in Chester: the Chester Standard, the Chester Chronicle and the daily newspaper, the Chester Evening Leader.
