Cheryl Winkler was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, serving a suburban Cincinnati, Ohio district from an appointment in 1990 until 2000. Winkler began her career in public service as a Green Township Trustee, and went on to become the Clerk of Green Township. In 1990, Representative Thomas Pottenger resigned to take a seat on the State Employees Relations Board. Subsequently, House Republicans appointed Winkler to his seat. She went on to win her first full term in 1992,[1] and won reelection in 1994, 1996 and 1998.

By 2000, Winkler was unable to run for a sixth term due to newly instated term limits, and was replaced by Bill Seitz. In 2001, Winkler opted to run for a judiciary position on the 7th Municipal Court District, but lost. She has since remained active in politics, but has not held elected office.
