Chernobyl. Vengeance of peaceful atom. is a 2006 book by Nikolaii Karpan. Karpan served as deputy chief engineer of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on reactor physics and nuclear safety at the time of Chernobyl disaster in 1986. Karpan is educated as engineer-physicist, in nuclear energy since 1969, on Chernobyl NPP worked from 1979 until 1989; since 26 April 1986 on overcoming of the consequences of Chernobyl disaster. In 1990, he participated in the work of the Commission of "Investigation of reasons and circumstances of emergency on the 4-th unit of Chernobyl NPP on April 26, 1986".[1]
In his book Karpan carries out the extensive analysis of the events of Chernobyl emergency, examining them in detail in the chronological order. The actual data about the emergency, the numerous statements of witnesses, obtained from the explanatory notes of personnel, which was present on the power unit at the moment of emergency, are cited in the book. In the Karpan’s book are published also the notes, which he made, being present at the trial on the Chernobyl emergency in July 1987.[2]
