Cherlopalle

Cherlopalle is located on the Bangalore-Kadapa highway, 40 km from Madanapalle and 150 km from Bangalore.

Cherlopalle is known for famous deity "Reddemma" even in neighboring states. Mostly child-less devotees visit Reddemma deity . When a child is born it is custom to to prefix/suffix name with Reddi or keep deity's name as it is "Reddemma" for girls and "Reddeppa" for boys.

History takes us back to nawab rulers. While Reddemma, a God's devotee/messenger was at fields, a soldier chased her out of attraction. She ran to middle of the hill and prayed bhoodevi (Goddess of earth) to save her. A big rock broke apart paving the way for Reddemma and She was saved. On the same location temple is built and has become very popular. Most of the devotees visit on Sunday, tonsure their head to show their respect. Childless devotees tie a stone to trees in front of the temple and pray for children.

Cherlopalle has good mix of all castes and majority are dependent on cultivation. There is elementary and high school as well. Schooling in this village is known for good educators. Teachers like Late Sri Prabhakar Reddy (Maths), Late Reddeppa Naidu (head master),Sri Sharma (Telugu), Sri B.V.Reddy draw lot of respect from students for their services. Most of their students are in the teaching profession and some others into IT.

Anjaneyaswamy temple is other well known temples in Cherlopalle with a nice ambience of a big pond. People take a dip in pond during sivaratri and offer puja to Lord Anjaneya. Shirdi Sai temple work is in progress now.

Every Sunday, there will be santa (vegetables Market). Recently Tomato market has also been developing its popularity.
