ChemicalBUET is an organization for the alumni, academics and students of Chemical Engineering Department of BUET ^[1], which is one of the oldest Chemical engineering departments in South Asia. By providing a platform for professionals, academics and students, ChemicalBUET disseminates knowledge and experience among its members.

This organization is recognized by the department of Chemical Engineering at BUET.^[2] ChemicalBUET is one of the largest Chemical Engineering communities in Bangladesh.

Establishment

ChemicalBUET was established in 2002. Now This organization has more than 500 members.^[3] This number is gradually increasing. ChemicalBUET alumni members are working in local and international industries as professional engineers; conducting cutting edge academic and industrial research;^[4][5][6] and, working in different non-chemical engineering professions. ChemicalBUET is playing an important role to bridge all the members from different status, promoting social and professional interaction among the members and last but not the least, supporting Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET in organizing different academic train-ings and competitions.

Activities

ChemicalBUET gives a platform to the members to share their professional and academic knowledge, views, experiences and queries. ChecmicalBUET is the pioneer to introduce multidimensional competitions, such as: Poster Competition, Thesis and Design Competition among the students and fresh graduates of the Chemical Engineering Students, BUET. In early 2009, Chemical Engineering Department and ChemicalBUET jointly organized the first ever International Poster Competition 2009 for the BUET ChE undergraduate students at ICChE 2008.^[7]

This organization jointly with the Chemical Engineering Dept. and Bangladesh Chemical Engineering Forum is organizing Undergraduate Poster and Thesis Competition in regular basis. ChemicalBUET arranges different short courses time to time. This organization also helps students to get admitted in graduate programs of renowned universities across the globe.
