It is widely regarded as one of the leading voices in Southern fiction and was recognized for its legacy with the State of Georgia's "Medal in the Humanities" in 2003. Critic Lamar York was the journal's first editor.[1]
Among the writers whose work has appeared in the journal are George Singleton, Flannery O'Connor, Juliana Baggott, Steve Almond, Thomas Lux, Jacob M. Appel, Amina Gautier, and Alice Friman.
