Charlotte Secondary School is a public charter school located in Charlotte, North Carolina [1]. The school opened in 2007 [2].
Functioning
The current principal is Teri Neely.[3] The school's charter is available on its website.
Curriculum
Each grade has four homerooms, four core classes, including Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. In its first four years of operation the school offered Encore classes that all students took (Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Technology/Computer Skills). In the 2011-12 school year students will be able to choose from a variety of arts and social sciences electives, including digital photography, fine arts, media and journalism, and humanities and debate. Spanish classes will be another elective offering. The middle school division follows the Paideia philosophyas directed by The National Paideia Center. The high school division's planned curriculum will center on college preparation.
