Chandler Canterbury (born December 15, 1998) is an American child actor.

Life and career

Canterbury was born in Houston, Texas, to Kristine and Russell Canterbury,^[1] and resides in Houston. He starred in Summit Entertainment's thriller Knowing (2009) for director Alex Proyas (I, Robot (2004)), alongside Nicolas Cage and Rose Byrne. Chandler plays Caleb, an elementary school student who finds a mysterious cryptic message from his school's time capsule that he suspects might mean something.

Chandler won a 2008 Young Artist Award for his chilling special guest star performance on the CBS hit series "Criminal Minds" (2005).

Chandler can be seen in the Paramount/Warner Bros film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) for director David Fincher (Fight Club (1999) and Se7en (1995)), starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Adapted from the 1920s short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man (Pitt) who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. Chandler played "Benjamin Button" at the age of eight, who has the dementia of an old man.

Chandler booked a role in the feature film Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach (2009) (V) starring Seann William Scott and Randy Quaid, directed by Danny Leiner (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)).

He recently appeared in a lead role in the psychological thriller After Life opposite Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci. He has also appeared in Universal's Repo Men (2010), opposite Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, and also in Timothy Linh Bui's Powder Blue (2009) opposite Jessica Biel, Forest Whitaker, and Ray Liotta. Chandler appeared as a young Peter Bishop in the 2011 Fringe episode "Subject 13".

In addition to acting, Canterbury enjoys fencing, basketball, and baseball.

Awards

In 2008, Canterbury also won a Young Artist Award in the category "Best Performance in a TV series - Guest Starring Young Actor" for his appearance in the episode "In Name and Blood" of the CBS network television series Criminal Minds.^[2]
