Lönnberg, 1905 [1]The mackerel icefish, Champsocephalus gunnari, is a fish found only in the Southern Ocean. They are mainly to be found near Heard and McDonald Islands, Îles Kerguelen and islands in the south Atlantic such as South Georgia.[2]
Due to overfishing, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) considers the species "depleted".[3]
