Medea is a film created in Saint-Petersburg, Russia in 2009. The film was based on the tragedy of the same name by the Roman poet Seneca the Younger. The plot is based on the famous myth about the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece. It shows the last day of broken marriage of Medea and Jason.
It was filmed as part of a new cinema genre called "Rhythmodrama", which is based around the strategy of writing the music for the film before any shooting. Composer and director Natalia Kuznetsova spent a year creating the melodies before production began. Instrumental music spans 64 minutes of the 66 minute film.
