Realcore

Realcore

The term Realcore describes digital amateur pornography, the type that arose thanks to the combination of cheap digital cameras and the Web, in the late 90es. These images (stills and moving) are radically different from mainstream pornography, in both how they are made (with simple cameras and a documentary style) and how they are distributed (mostly for free, in Web communities or the Usenet newsgroups). The term Realcore refers to the reality element, very relevant in this kind of imagery. It was invented by Sergio Messina, who first used it at the Ars Electronica Symposium in 2000, and was subsequently adopted by a number of authors and experts. Sergio Messina is currently writing the book, entitled "Realcore, the digital porno revolution".
