- ITIL Certification
There are two versions of the ITIL Certification ITIL v2 and ITIL v3 (
Information Technology Infrastructure Library version 3 ) both lead to the ITIL credentails:ITIL Foundation ,ITIL Practioner orITIL Service Manager . ITIL v2 is slowly being phased out in favor if ITIL v.3. Many organization see no major benefit in moving from ITIL v2 to ITIL v3 therefore certification paths are still available and are described below:ITIL V2 Certification
This credential involves completing 24 hours or 3 days of ITIL certified coursework. Passing a one hour long multiple choice test proctored by EXIN. Candidate's are tested on their basic understanding of the principles and terminology of ITIL and ITSM (Information Technology Service Management). The ITL Certification has a shared value with PMI and counts as 24 PMI PDUs when training is provided by an ITIL certified training partner.
The ITIL v2 Foundation Certification Exam Format
1. Multiple choice
2. One hour duration
3. 40 questions

For each separate discipline candidates are tested during ITIL certified training and ITIL examination.
The ITIL v2 Practitioner certificate can be attained in each of the following policy areas:<br />

B.Service Desk and Incident Management:<br />1. Service Delivery Disciplines
2. Availability Management
3. Capacity Management

C.Combined Discipline examinations:
1. Combined Service Desk, Incident and Problem Management (IPSR)
2. Combined Change, Configuration and Release Management (IPRC)
3. CombinedFinance and Service Level Management (IPAD)
4. Combined Availability, Capacity and IT Service Continuity Management (IPPI).
D.The ITIL v2 Practitioner examination format is typically either:1. In-course written assignment; 1 question (worth 50% of overall score)
2. Examination: 25 questions, multiple choice, closed book, scenario based (worth 50% of overall score)
3.Pass mark is 65%.

This credential is attained after 10-days or 80 hours of ITIL v2 Service Manager training by a 2.5 hour essay based examination about the practical application ITIL v2 theory. The breadth of the Service Management policies are:
The ITIL® Managers certificate is made up of two papers:
• Service Support
• Service Delivery
Both exams must be completed and passed before the ITIL Service Support Manager or Service Delivery Certification can be awarded.
The format for both Managers examination papers is:
1. Scenario based essay style
2. Three hour duration, plus 15 minutes reading time
3. 5 questions, all equally weighted (all questions must be attempted)
4. Pass mark is 65% in both papers (no in-course assessment contribution to mark)
5. Distinction is awarded if 70% or above is achieved in both papers, in the same sittingSystem and The Relationship Between ITIL V3 and ITIL V2
ITIL recognizes the value of earlier ITIL modules, the new credit system has also been widened to include earlier Versions of ITIL v1 and ITIL v2. ITIL qualifications, which at present includes the ITIL v2 Foundation, ITIL v2 Practitioner Modules and the ITIL v1 or ITIL V2 Service Manager.
ITI v2 to ITIL v3 (IT Infrastructure Library Training version 3)
EXIN certified ITIL v3 training is required to take the ITIL v3 Exams.
EXIN certified training is usually 24 hours or 3 days of training focused on case studies.
