Venetic theory

Venetic theory

Venetic theory ( _sl. venetska teorija) is best known autochthonal theory about origin of Slovenes. It is an example of protochronism. Based on traditional Germanic naming of Slavic people with Veneti (Proto-Germanic *Wénethōz > _de. Wenden, Winden) some medieval chroniclers and new age historians have equated antique Venetis with Slavs.
