Aid transparency

Agreed to by a set of international donors in Accra Ghana on September 4, 2008, the "International Aid Transparency Initiative" says adopting donors will

"publicly disclose regular, detailed and timely information on volume, allocation and when, available, results of development expenditure to enable more accurate budget, accounting and audit by developing countries", "support information systems for managing aid"; and "provide full and timely information on annual commitments and actual disbursements' [Accra Statement http://www.dgfoundation.org/fileadmin/templates/pdfs/accrastatementfin.pdf]

This statement has been adopted by a variety of international donors including Ministry for Foreign Affairs Finland, Irish Aid, The World Bank, the UK's Department for International Development, UNDP, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
