Benjamin F. Logan

Benjamin F. "Tex" Logan, Jr. (1927) is an American electrical engineer and fiddler.

Born in Coahoma, Texas, he earned a B.Sc. in electrical engineering at Texas Technical University in Lubbock,studied for a B.Sc. in engineering at Massachussetts Institute of Technology (1946-51), and completing a M.Sc. (1956).He then moved to New Jersey where he joined Bell Labs (1956) and started his doctoral studies at Columbia University where he eventually got a Ph.D. inelectrical engineering on the dissertation "Properties of high-pass signals" (1965).He joined in the communication theory department at Bell Labs (1956) where heamong other, demonstrated the use of computer simulation to the study of reverberation in digital audio, jointwork with Manfred R. Schroeder who later pioneered MP3 audio (1961).He was withthe mathematics center (1963-93) where he contributed to the theory of signal (electrical engineering).

As his father Frank, he is also a violinist.
