Mark Voloshin

Mark Voloshin (born August 25, 1945 in Moscow) is a Russian businessman, philanthropist and founder of the Marvol Group, a multinational company with interests in Germany, South Africa as well as Jordan. In addition, Voloshin is also medically trained doctor), and worked for many years in the dental industry.

Biography

Mark Voloshin was born in Moscow in 1945, and attended Moscow High School before studying dentistry at the Moscow Medical Institute.

He spent four years as a practising dentist in Germany, before obtaining his doctorate at the University of Hannover in 1984. From here, Voloshin spent three years in the Bahamas, serving as a guest lecturer and in 1985, founded the Marvol Management Group [cite news|publisher=Who's Who |date=2008-09-22|accessdate=2008-09-23|url=http://www.whoswhosa.co.za/Pages/profilefull.aspx?IndID=3462|title=Who's who, South Africa page] , after recognising the opportunities that were about to arrive following the liberation of the Russian economy when the imminent fall of the Soviet Union became a reality.

After visiting South Africa, Voloshin fell in love with the country, and more specifically, the winelands region in the Western Cape. After an extensive search, he purchased the Hazendal Estate [cite news|publisher=Cape Town Info |date=2008-09-22|accessdate=2008-09-23|url=http://www.capetowninfo.co.za/Hazendal.cfm|title=Hazendal Purchased, Cape Town Info] , a Cape wine farm in Stellenbosch, sealing the deal on the same day as South Africa's first ever democratic elections, giving the Marvol Group the historic title of being the first foreign investors in the New South Africa.
