La Bibbia Giorno e Notte

is the name of a monumental media event of historical importance to all 3 big monotheist world religions. Starting on 5 October 2008 the full text of The Bible is being read and transmitted by RAI tv in a non stop sequence lasting nearly 6 days (139 hours). The reading was opened by pope Benedict on 19:10, who read the first chapter of Genesis, followed by impressive cast of 1143 readers, most of whom were personalities from all over the world, including Hebraic and Islamic representatives. Readers ranged from simple Italian family, a child, a blind man to ex presidents of Italian Republic, Italian ex prime minister Guilio Andreotti and showbiz celebrities like Roberto Benigni.

The event takes place in Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in Rome.The first and the last hour (around 12:30 11 October 2008) were and will be transmitted by Rai Uno and Eurovision.
