Coast salish defensive sites
- Coast salish defensive sites
The Coast Salish Defensive Sites are little-known rock walls constructed by Coast Salish peoples that have been excavated by Kisha Supernant in 2008 near the Frasier River Canyon, Yale, BC. Their purposes included defense, fishing (weirs), and creation of terraces. House pits and stone tools have been found in association with certain sites. Some of the sites are disputed terriotory between Northwest Coast tribes and archaeologists have been asked to stay away from these sites.
