- Wiggaton
Wiggaton is a small village in
East Devon situated on the main road fromOttery St Mary to the coastal town ofSidmouth . The village is famous for its large multi-racial community including a largemosque situated in the northern part of the town. There is a ruling elite of village elders called theConvocation they adminster thevillage hall and events such as village fetes. To be eligible for a post you must have lived in the village for no less than 15 years. There is a small youth group in Wiggaton assembling in the village "basilica"(really a village hall but nicknamed affectionally due to its great aeschetic quality). This youth group supervises the village's youth and is similar to the Convocation in that to be a high ranking member (an initiate) a youth must have been born in Wiggaton or been brought up there since the age of 2. A youth who has recently moved there and desires to join this group has the rank of noviciate but this rank is hardly used and causes great offence when used out of the group. The offensive phrase "You know nothing more than a noviciate" has been used in cases where leadership struggles have taken place and occasional purges of members where two factions form has been known. The power of the group is invested in the leader who is collequially known as the "Chief Wigga" referring to the villages name but his real rank is Supervisor. The current Supervisor (or "Chief Wigga") is Martin Kenneally who was brought up in the area after emigrating from a non-EU country. Martin is advised by the "Inner Circle" and had to win the rank against village born Andrew of Rushworth.
The small population of emigrated Buddhists have formed a small Shaolin temple who are known for their religious piety and the seriousness of their training in martial arts. The disgraced Andrew Rushworth became the spiritual leader of this sect after losing the leadership race to Martin. He has since become a leading figure in the "Inner Circle" and his neutral and pacifistic ideals have meant that young offenders have been treated leniently. Although the famed "inner circle" have recently expanded their campaign against the perceived threat of other villages and insult to Islam and Buddhism.
The local law enforcement team is made up of members of the "Inner Circle", the leader being there newest member one Nick Barrett who sought this position after being born into one of the neighbouring villages and being thrown out for accosiating with the village of Wiggaton. The deputy of this honourable group is Richard the Burgess a resident of the village and a all round good egg!
