G. B. Road

G. B. Road or Garstin Bastion road is a famous and old red light area in New Delhi, India. Its name is changed to Swami Shradhanand Marg in 1965.

History

The history of G. B. Road can be dated back to Mughal era. It is said that there were total five red light areas or "kotha"s in Delhi at that time. The night life of mughal atrocities and patrons flourished the livelihood of sex workers in these areas. Then came the British Raj, when a British collector consolidated all the five "kotha"s to one area and christened it on his own name, Garstin Bastion Road or simply G. B. Road.

Location

G. B. Road is situated in the heart of capital city of India, Delhi. It is ten minutes walk away from the New Delhi Railway Station or New Delhi Metro station. It can be viewed through Google Earth at [http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php?Number=323908]
