Beta Omicron Iota (also known as BOI or βOI) is a social college fraternity founded on August 25, 2008. The first chapter was started by Founder Ben Masselink, then a sophomore at Duke University. BOI has since informally recruited and initiated several other members during the inaugural fall semester in 2008. The first formal rushing and pledging process will commence in Winter 2008 and continue into the Spring. Many Beta Omicron Iota members, or BOI's as they're often referred to, are frequent participants in various philanthropic activities and are all very involved members of the community. Such involvement in stressed in their holy creed.

History

Beta Omicron Iota was founded at Duke University on August 25, 2008. The term "Boi" was first coined by member A.J. Jay Feld to describe a "genuinely great guy". Following its widespread use, the term made its jump to global networks via Juicy Campus. The site describes itself as an enabler of "online anonymous free speech on college campuses." There, BOI gained recognition as it was applied to well known students around campus. For example,

"I mean, all the guys in [Sigma Alpha Epsilon| [SAE] are bois afterall... just like genuinely great guys all around. Like Ben Masselink... such a boi I want to do cute things to [him] ... like with his genitals... Ben Masselink's genitals are a boi... like seriously... his genitals are just genuinely great guys." "
Early accounts believe Founding Member Ben Masselink sought to empower the ordinary collegian to extraordinary "Boiship", as defined in the Beta Omicron Iota creed. Observers often attribute members' amazing accomplishments in all acts of life to this holy Boiship.

Famous Members

Though the fraternal organization BOI is still too young to have graduated members, many will likely carry their hard earned levels of Boiship onto promising careers in business, politics, and other highly sought-after occupations. Though legendary Duke math professor Clark Bray is a proponent of the group.
