The Sele is a river in southwestern Italy. Originating from the Monti Picentini, it flows through the region of Campania and into the Gulf of Salerno in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is the second river in southern Italy for average water discharge after the Volturno. Its main tributaries are the Tanagro, the Calore Lucano and the Tenza. In ancient times it was known as Silarus.
