- Kevin Modeste
Kevin Modeste is the president of the
Ajax—Pickering New Democratic Party riding association and was the party's candidate in the riding for the 2004 Canadian federal election. Modeste tallied 5286 votes (placing third behindMark Holland and Rene Soetens), an increase of over 300% from the party's showing in the riding in the last federal election. Mr. Modeste has received the riding's nomination to stand as its candidate in the upcoming federal election.Modeste is a former member of the Urban Alliance on Race Relations, and has worked with the Canadian Friends of the Phelophepa Health Care Train, a non-profit group supporting a South African mobile health unit and its effort to bring health care services to rural parts of that country.
Kevin Modeste is a constituency assistant in the office of NDP MPP
Michael Prue and is also a recipient of the Harry Jerome Volunteer Award from the Black Business and Professional Association. Modeste has worked as an administrator for the Black Business and Professional Association, and later joined the board of directors of that organization from 2000 to 2003.
