He currently ranks 56th on the Major League Baseball Career Saves List (155) and 67th on the Career Games Finished List (360).

Howell has led the Wildcats to aC.I.F. title in his first year in Monrovia, and has been offeredMinor League coaching jobs numerous times since his departure from Northridge. Howell is quoted saying "I'm not going to be leaving Monrovia any time soon! I love it here, I was raised here, this is my dream.
