Howard Davis (musician)

Howard Davis (April 9 1940 – February 5 2008) was a British violinist, best known as the leader for more than 35 years of the Alberni Quartet. [ [http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article3398728.ece] ] He was greatly respected both as a refined player and as an inspirational and influential teacher. [ http://www.ram.ac.uk/newsdetail.htm?id=b0accd1c-6b38-4a49-b1c7-6eaf16c02770 ] He was a student at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 1958-63 and became professor of violin from 1982.

Davis died on 5 February 2008 of a respiratory disease. His wife and their two sons survive him.
