"La cicala" ("The cricket") is a 1980 film directed by Alberto Lattuada, starring Anthony Franciosa and Virna Lisi.

Plot

Wilma Malinverni (Virna Lisi) is an aged nightclub singer, who escapes such life with the "Cicala" (Clio Goldsmith), an uneasy young girl who have left her hometown. On the road as prostitutes, they meet Annibale Meneghetti (Anthony Franciosa). As he was dreaming with establishing a big road stop for truckers, the two girls help him. They succeed and the place, "La Cicala", thrives. Wilma marries Annibale yet she mistrusts the Cicala, who had to demonstrate her lack of interference in the mariage. Then, the 18 year old daughter of Wilma arrives and it happens that she is a prostitute too.
