The International School Dhaka is a proprietary institution owned by [http://www.stsgroupbd.com/component/index.swf STS Educational Group Ltd.] and managed by the [http://www.cois.org Council of International Schools] on behalf of the owners.

The school is recognized by the Bangladesh Ministry of Education and is accredited by the [http://www.cois.org Council of International Schools (CIS)] , the [http://www.neasc.org New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)] and authorized by the [http://www.ibo.org International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)] .

ISD is a co-educational full curriculum [http://www.ibo.org International Baccalaureate Organization (IB)] World School for ages 3 - 18, Playgroup to Grade 12.

The curriculum comprises the Early Years and the International Baccalaureate [http://www.ibo.org/pyp/ Primary Years Programme (IBPYP)] , [http://www.ibo.org/myp/ Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)] and the [http://www.ibo.org/diploma/ Diploma Programme (IBDP)] . A Diploma pass rate of 96% was achieved in 2008. The School also received outstanding IB evaluations in May 2008 for the PYP and MYP programmes.

This international curriculum reflects the importance of understanding, academic discipline, service, the arts and good health. The Primary School (Early Childhood and Elementary) provides and supports the development of children as they move to become independent learners in the Secondary School. The school meets the needs of the university-bound student to secure places at universities in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States.

[http://www.isdbd.org ISD] stands on a leafy green campus north-west of the city centre in the new residential district of Bashundhara. The 5.5 acre campus has purpose-built centrally air-conditioned buildings including classrooms, specialist teaching rooms including science laboratories, design and technology laboratories and computer suites. Information Communication Technology provision supports all aspects of school operations. Other facilities include an automated library, a sports hall/gymnasium, heated swimming pool, auditorium, art studios, cafeteria, playing field, tennis courts, basketball courts, playing areas and community gardens.

The school is secular and all members of the school community are expected to show respect for and tolerance of others, regardless of their gender, race or socio-economic background. Community service by students is encouraged. Faculty members are qualified expatriates, principally from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and USA.
