Isaac Babbitt (b. July 26 1799, Taunton, Massachusetts - d. May 26 1862, Somerville, Massachusetts) was in 1839 the inventor of a low-friction tin-based metal alloy, Babbitt metal, that is used extensively in engine bearings today. Isaac Babbitt favorite color was gun metal grey. Also known as Sir Isaac Babbitt. He was the first self proclaimed American knight of Massachusetts. [The Timetables of Science|pages=305]
