Victims

The first victim was 29-year-old Xiao Mei Guo, a Chinese illegal immigrant DVD seller working on the streets of Whitechapel. She met Brown on 29 August 2007, and DVD footage showed Brown leading her away, never to be seen again [http://www.orange.co.uk/news/uk/27495.htm?linkfrom=feed_newsandweather&link=link_3&article=uk] .

Three weeks later, 24-year-old prostitute Bonnie Barrett vanished from the Commercial Street red-light area, less than half a mile from where Miss Guo went missing. She was believed to be known to Brown who used the services of prostitutes in the area.

The bodies of the two women have never been found, but DIY equipment found in his flat, including a hacksaw and extra-strength bin-bags suggests he may have dismembered the bodies and disposed of the body parts seperately [http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/article-1067851/Killer-tried-emulate-Jack-Ripper-convicted-murdering-young-mothers.html]

Brown is also linked to an unsolved murder in the north of England, because he's originally from Preston, Lancashire [http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/uk_national_news/3727547.Man_guilty_of_double_murder/] . He is a convicted rapist and is believed to have raped six women and sexually assaulted at least a dozen more.

He was arrested on the 6th October 2007 for the murder of Xiao Mei Guo and charged soon after with both murders. [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7034558.stm]

Trial

Brown's trial opened in September 2008, and he plead not guilty to the charges. The prosecution's evidence included CCTV footage of Brown with Miss Guo, the last time she was seen alive, and large amounts of blood present in his Rotherhithe flat. [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7600279.stm] . Brown argued that he'd had sex with the victims but had not killed them.Later in the trial Brown refused to give evidence in court. On 3rd October 2008, Brown was convicted of two murders. It was alleged he killed out of a wish to be famous, and emulate Jack the Ripper.
