watershed = 1,203 km² The Esino is a river of c. 85 km in the Marche, central Italy. Its name could derive from the Latina "Aesis", the ancient city of Jesi (or vice versa).

The river stems from the Monte Cafaggio, in the province of Macerata, at c. 1,000 m, and first flows through the "comuni" of Esanatoglia, Matelica and Cerreto d'Esi, and then flows into the province of Ancona. Subsequently it receives the waters of the Giano and, in the so-called "Gola della Rossa" ("Canyon of the Red"), of the Sentino. After running at slower speed trhough Serra San Quirico, Maiolati Spontini, Castelplanio and Cupramontana, the Esino reaches Jesi and Chiaravalle, flowing into the Adriatic Sea at Falconara Marittima.
