Riverdale High School (Louisiana)

Riverdale's History

Riverdale High School is loacted in the Jefferson Parish School system in Jefferson Parish, .

The campus is located on Riverdale Dr, off of Jefferson Hwy.

Riverdale High School was established in 1962 originally as a all girl highschool with grade 10th -12th. The orignial Masscot for the shcool was that of the Scottish Lassie.

In 1980 the school became a co-ed school and the masscott was changed from the female Scottish Lassie to the Male ScottishRebel.

In 1986 the school added grades 7th-9th.

In 1988 grade 6 was added.

In 1994 the school was split from 6th-8th as Riverdale Middle School and 9th-12th and Riverdale Highschool. With the sepration of the school, Riverdale high used the form of "block scheudling" for its student. Taking four classes at the begging of the semester with each period lasting one hour and 30 minutes, and for the second half of the semester taking another four classes.

Riverdale's Theater

Since the year 1987, Riverdale Highschool (along with Riverdale Middle) have put on a Spring Musical every year.

Riverdale Today

In 2002 after the death of belvoed teacher, speech and debate coach, and director of Riverdales Spring musicals, Morris Block, the auditorm was renamed "Morris Block Auditorum" in his honor.

As of 2008 15,000 students have graduated from Riverdale High.
