U.S. National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence

The National [Advisory] Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence (NCCPV) was formed, in 1968, by US President Lyndon B. Johnson. It was chaired by Milton S. Eisenhower.

Official Statements of the NCCPV

  • "There is a criminal justice process through which each offender passes from the police, to the courts, and back unto the streets. The inefficiency, fall-out, and failure of purpose during this process is notorious."
