Current projects/bands

Neal Morse

Since 2005 Collin works as band leader and drummer in the live band of progressive rock artist Neal Morse (USA), known from his bands Spock's Beard & Transatlantic. In the Neal Morse band, Collin ‘subs’ for Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) who plays on the studio albums. Collin did three full band European tours, and 4 acoustic tours through Europe with Neal. From the Question Mark tour a live-2CD: ‘Neal Morse - ? Live’ was released worldwide through Radiant Records, Metal Blade and Inside Out Records. A limited edition live DVD: Neal Morse – ‘Question Mark and Beyond’ was released early 2007. In May 2007 they did a European tour to support Neal’s album Sola Scriptura. On guitar they had the amazing Paul Bielatowicz from the Carl Palmer band. From this tour a 2-DVD set Sola Scriptura & Beyond has been released on June 24, 2008 through Radiant Records, Sony Music, Metal Blade en Inside Out Records. Neal Morse’s newest CD, Lifeline, is released on October 20, 2008. Collin Leijenaar will is featured on this CD together with musicians like Paul Bielatowisz, Paul Gilbert, Mike Portnoy, Randy George and others.

Jessica Koomen

With this jazz group with singer Jessica Koomen, guitarist Elisa Krijgsman, bassist Mark Dekkers, and pianist Henk Doest, they play a mixture of jazz and loungy loop based music. Collin plays drums and percussion, and fools around with loops, effects and electronic grooves etc. They play at jazz festivals and jazz clubs throughout Europe.

Daniel Fries

Recently Collin started working on a progressive rock/metal project with German guitar virtuoso Daniel Fries. He plays drums, and is co-producing this album. Joining them are Michael LePond from Symphony X on bass, and Derek Sherinian (Dreamtheater/Planet X/Alice Cooper) on keyboards. Combined with the vocal collaborations of Neal Morse, and Ted Leonard of Enchant (band).

Rhythm Of the Soul

With his percussion group Rhythm Of The Soul, Collin played on a big festival at the Gelredome stadium in Arnhem, The Netherlands before an audience of over 35.000 people. This was broadcasted live on national television, with a few re-runs. This percussion group released a single (Tribal Worship), which is available world-wide through online music stores like iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster.

In-One

In 2005 Collin started playing in the band In-One, based in Germany, but with musicians from all over the world (Germany, Netherlands, England and The States). The keyboard player and bandleader/producer is Wayne Michael Wilson (USA), he works with artist like Take 6, and Mary J Blige. With this soul/r&b band Collin plays at big stadium events, throughout the world: DE, NL, BE, ENG, SWE, PL, IRE, GB, Hong Kong, USA, Philippines, Mexico and South Korea. A lot of these performances are recorded for live world-wide TV broadcastings and re-runs.

Dilemma

Dilemma was a progressive rock band from The Netherlands. their debute CD Imbrocatta was released through SI Music/Roadrunner. After the departure of drummer Frank Van Essen, who went to play with Iona (band), Collin Leijenaar was asked to play drums. They played for 5 years together and played on prog festivals and released 2 CD's together.

Kaja

With the popgroup Kaja, formed around the vocal duo KArlijn Surminski and JAnine Schell. Kaja was signed with Sony Music, and had two singles that was noted in the Top 100 in The Netherlands. Collin played for three years with the band. They did a lot of gigs on festivals in The Netherlands, and did a lot of radio and TV shows and performances.

The B-Band

The B-Band was a rock band formed by a group of music students. This was the first band experience of Leijenaar, and with this group he released 5 CD's and toured throughout Europe. They have played many times in Poland, Check Republic and Germany.

Other

DrumSchool & PopSchool

In 1999 Leijenaar started his drum school: Novae Drum School Ede. Every year he had around 50/75 students. Quite a few of his students are now in prize winning bands, or have studied at music conservatories. In January of 2006 this grew into Novae Pop School Ede, a music school, mainly focused at pop music in all it’s forms and styles.

During the last 10 years, Collin has played in a lot of different bands, projects etc. And he got in contact with a lot of producers and artists that wanted him to play on their albums. In the last 8 years he has recorded with bands and artists, and did also jingles and music for musicals etc. Due to the common problem of low budgets and the downfall of the music scène in Holland, Leijenaar started in 1999 the ‘online drum track recording service’: DrumStudio.eu. A modern way to record live drums to any kind of project, with the ease of the internet. A fast and cheap way for producers and artists to get live played, acoustic drums and percussion tracks to their songs. He works with people from all over the globe, from The Netherlands to Hong Kong, from The States to all over Europe. In all kinds of styles: rock, jazz, r&b, soul, funk, pop etc.
