Rise to Fame

In 2002 he appeared on "The Live Floor Show" and much of this material was used to write jokes for Jimmy Carr on "Distraction", which started out in 2003. In 2003 and 2004 he made several radio pilots for BBC Radio Scotland.

Frankie Boyle performed his stand up show, "The Voice of Black America", at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In 2007 he appeared on T4 musical festival in Edinburgh. He appeared in "Rush Hour", a comedy show on BBC Three in early 2007, playing the AA man (who gives unwanted relationship advice) and a police officer. Boyle appeared in the third series of "Live at the Apollo", recording his set on 4 October 2007.

Boyle is currently appearing on the show "When Were We Funniest?" a show on UKTV Gold, where five celebrities each represent a decade from the 1960s - 2000s, and they choose some TV comedy clips from their decade and persuade the viewers to vote for their decade as the funniest. The celebrities choose their clips and show them on a 2 hour show dedicated to their decade. Boyle represents the 2000s and his show first aired on 18 September 2008.

Humour

Boyle is known for his dark sense of humour which plays on negative views of society, celebrities and politicians. The BBC panel show "Mock The Week" has proved a good vehicle for his below the belt quirky humour as the panel are required to comment humorously on various news stories from the British media. Boyle is a regular on the show and prolific in terms of his contribution to each episode, particularly when his native Scotland is discussed. He finds a way to deride Kerry Katona in almost every show in the recent series.
