Route 283 is a short highway in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Its northern terminus is at Interstate 29/U.S. Route 71 in Kansas City; its southern terminus is at Route 9 at the northern city limit of North Kansas City. It is known locally as North Oak Trafficway. It connects a handful of small independent subdivisions to nearby Gladstone, Missouri and North Kansas City, Missouri, and connects them in turn to Kansas City, Missouri itself. The highway is host to more of the Gladstone area's shopping than any other single road. It serves as a sort of business route for US Route 169, which runs parallel to the west of 283. While it is nowhere a limited access highway, it is four lanes wide from its southern terminus to its junction with Route 152. North of I-29, it continues as North Oak Trafficway through Gladstone and Kansas City North until it's junction with Missouri Route 291 near the intersection of U.S. Route 169 and Route 291.
