Josh Keyes

Josh Keyes (born August 17, 1969 in Tacoma, Washington) is an American contemporary artist who works with painting, drawing, and installation art. He currently works out of Oakland, California. His work has been described as "a satirical look at the impact urban sprawl has on the environment and surmises, with the aid of scientific slices and core samples, what could happen if we continue to infiltrate and encroach on our rural surroundings." While many reviews point out the environmental commentary of his work and his handling of animals, Keyes explains that much of his imagery comes from old science-fiction movies and ancient textbooks from the 1940-70's. Biography

Keyes earned a bachelor's degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a master's degree in painting and printmaking from Yale University.
