History
It was originally opened as a monitor station on 22 June 1942 for the GEE (navigation) network in the Eastern area.
Current Use
The base is currently used by the
United States Air Force (USAFE ) [http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/cm199495/cmhansrd/1995-07-12/Writtens-14.html] . It is believed to be part of the NATO/USAF/RAF early warning network [http://www.barkway-village.co.uk/landmarks.htm] .In September 2008 The base was broken into by a
