ntupdate =Sergio Gontán Gallardo or Keko (born on December 28, 1991 in Madrid) is an spanish football player, who currently plays for
Atlético Madrid . He's regarded as one of the clubs biggest prospects and plays as a right winger forAtlético Madrid B but has received several call-ups toJavier Aguirre s first team.Atlético Madrid
Keko started playing football in Pozuelo at an early age and arrived at
Atlético Madrid when he turned 9 years where he represented the "Alevíns", his progress has been instant ever since joining the red and white outfit. Keko is a winger with good dribbling skills, he’s capable of inventing his own plays at any time, and has other qualities such as the fact that he doesn’t get intimidated even when the opposing team is better and older than his. His pace is one of his weapons, which he accompanies with great skill, inventiveness and a large dose of audacity. Keko is regarded as one of Atléticos biggest prospects and it's been reported that Barcelona were interested in signing him after his excellent performances for Spain during theUEFA European Under-17 Football Championship in Turkey. The club decided to form a young B-team where they'll get the chance to develop and gain experience while playing in
Segunda División B under coach Abraham García. Keko was one of the players who's been standing out during the pre-season and official season together with teammateSadick Adams .He was called up by
Javier Aguirre to be a part of the 18-man squad againstSevilla FC on September 28, but didn't get to make his official debut at Vicente Calderón. In statements made to Atlético de Madrid’s official web site, Keko admitted that "“I didn’t expect it. I’m very grateful to the coach. This is a prize for the daily work I’ve done, but I know that my team is Atlético B and that this is another step in my career as a footballer. This has just gotten started, as I’m not even settled in at Atlético B. I’m part of the 26 members of the reserve squad. It’s the team of my life. Last Saturday I was watching the Atlético match at the Vicente Calderón and I watch them every week on television.”"He's been called up against
Olympique de Marseille in theUEFA Champions League on October 1 because of the injury to portuguese wingerSimão Sabrosa .International career
He has been international with the Under-16 and Under-17 Spanish Teams, standing out in this category as one of the mainstays of the national side, along with Atleti player Pulido, that won the
UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship last May in Turkey. Keko scored one of Spains goals when they managed to beat Andorra in a 3-0 win during the Qualifying round, he also marked two more goals against Wales where Spain only managed to get a 2-2 draw but still advance to the next round. He was one of the more instrumental players during the Elite Round too, but the real breakthrough came in the actual tournament a couple of months after qualifying where he setup two goals for Rubén Rochina and scored one by himself in a game against Ireland.Kekos best game in that tournament came against France in the final where he completely destroyed his opponents by being a constant threat. He scored the first goal after 31 minutes after being nicely set up by Thiago. Keko took the ball a couple of minutes after halftime and cruised through the french defence and then found a open Sergi who could make it 2-0 for the spaniards. He was also involved in the last goal where he served Manu for 4-0 after completing the demolition of the french defence.
