Public.resource.org

Public.Resource.Org is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to publishing and sharing public domain materials in the United States. It was founded by Carl Malamud and is based out of Sebastopol, California. Their motto is “Making Government Information More Accessible”. As of 2008, organization currently operates on an annual budget of around $1M, most of this spent on acquiring the rights to and scanning public works. Malamud estimates it will take another $10M to acquire and digitize all of the public code materials that are not publicly available from every state.

Projects

; San Francisco : Safety and administrative codes are available.; Bulk Access to Codes : Public safety codes and administratives codes are available.; CCR : the California Code of Regulations ; FedFlix : a joint venture with the National Technical Information Service (NTIS). Each month they send us government videotapes. We upload them to the Internet Archive and YouTube, then send the government back their videotapes and a digital copy for their files. No cost to them, more data for all of us. Enjoy!

Two projects of note: The U.S. Govt. Manual and Censored OSHA Films
