- The High And Mighties
The 2008 release of the four song CD entitled "The Evolution EP" by the The High and Mighties has charted on nearly one-hundred college radio stations throughout the US and Canada. The reggae influenced rock band from Chapel Hill, NC is composed of six players from various notable groups and ensembles out of the Southeast US who have toured nationally and internationally for the last decade (Two Dollar Pistols, Project Mastana, The Independents, Regatta 69, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Tim Smith Band, etc.) Over the last two years they have been striving to create an atmosphere where we all celebrate the experience of the human situation with true-to-life stories set to laid-back funky off-beat rhythms and lyric which lean towards the sweet overshadowing the bitter... dealing with life, relationships and the pursuit of ever eluding happiness. A calculated turnaround by singer/ songwriter Mark Belk in early 2006 from the cover band "40 Ounces" - a primarily Sublime retro act - to mostly performing original material - coupled with a name change gave birth to the new family of friends dubbed “The High & Mighties”. Since catching the eye of several music industry veterans the group is fresh out of the studio with the Evolution EP. While pushing their original chilled-out good time message of summertime romance they have signed to the well supported EchoMix Records (King Django, Dr. Ring Ding, Chris Murray, Regatta 69, Motha Nature, etc.) which promises a future of touring, recording and various appearances on the airwaves and in the press. Friday Oct. 10 2008 Mark Belk and The High And Mighties appear on WUNC in Chapel Hill, North Carlonia for the National Public Radio show called "The State Of Things" which has a listener base throughout the state of 150,000+ where they officially announce their contribution of money raised from downloads of the song "Chapel On The Hill" to the North Carolina Children's Hospital located at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.http://www.myspace.com/thehighandmighties m () 23:41, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
