During his for-profit business career, he owned several companies and served on numerous boards. Most notably, he is the Founder and President of non-profit Corporate Chaplains of America, a leading provider of chaplaincy services in the United States.
More than a decade ago, Cress sold his business interest to enroll in seminary to answer a calling to workplace ministry. Since beginning Corporate Chaplains of America in 1996, he has authored several books, all published through Lanphier Press. He has a Bachelor of Science in business from Radford University, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently a candidate for a Doctor of Ministry in Workplace Ethics and Leadership from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
