St Paul’s Church is an Anglican church on St Paul's Square, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire England. Since 2005, St Paul’s has been part of a parish with St Aidan's, Shobnall. It is in the diocese of Lichfield.

History

St Paul’s was consecrated on 7 April 1874 by the Bishop of Lichfield, The Rt. Rev. George Augustus Selwyn. Michael Thomas Bass paid for the erection of the church and vicarage at a cost of £50,000. The architects were James Teale and Edmund Beckett Denison, with later additions by G.F. Bodley at the expense of Michael Bass, 1st Baron Burton.

The building

The church is cruciform with a massive 123ft central tower, housing a peal of ten. The work by Bodley includes the organ case and the south chapel. The church was designed in the Early Decorated style and built of Coxbench and Ancaster stone.

Arthur Mee wrote “All is nobly rich and beautiful in this wonderful church.” ("Staffordshire" by Arthur Mee; 1937)
