In 2007, Scientists from Japan's Hokkaido Industrial Research Institute permanently paved three 250m stretches of highway in Hokkaido, Wakayama and Gunma and deemed them 'Melody Roads'. [http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22750751-2,00.html] The roads work by creating sequences of variable width groove intervals to create specific low and high frequency vibrations.
