Cynthia Azevedo

Cynthia Azevedo

Cynthia Azevedo was a contestant on "The Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular" on CBS during the 2007-2008 season who, to date, is the only contestant to win $1,000,000 playing a pricing game.

Azevedo played "Clock Game," a game which she claimed at the beginning to have not remembered. She was playing for a sofa and an exercise machine.

Azevedo had 30 seconds in which to guess the correct actual retail prices of each prize, one at a time. Once she gave a bid, the host would tell her if the actual retail price was higher or lower than the bid. If she achieved this goal, she would win not only the prizes, but a $5,000 cash bonus. A challenge was later offered by host Drew Carey that if Azevedo gave the correct prices inside of ten seconds, a goal that Carey described as "doable," she would win $1,000,000.

The very first bid on the sofa given by Azevedo, $899, was correct and only took one second off the clock. At this point, she had nine seconds to work with to get the price of the exerciser right. The clock ticked and ticked until there was approximately 24 seconds left when Azevedo went with her first bid of the sofa, $899. When host Drew Carey told her "higher," she bid $999 (the correct price), and with 22 seconds to spare, Carey exclaimed four times over pandemonium from the crowd "You won a million bucks!"
