PrestaShop is an Open Source ecommerce web application. v1.0 was released on July 31 2008. It was founded in Paris, France, by Igor Schlumberger and Bruno Lévêque.

PrestaShop is available under the Open Software License version 3.0. It is simpler but faster alternative to Magento, making use of an Ajax interface. [http://www.webmasterbulletin.net/2008/08/prestashop-simple-magento-competitor/169]
