Thomas Theodore "Tommy" Northcott (born 5 December, 1931 in Torquay, died 29 September, 2008) is a former English professional footballer. Career

Northcott began his career with local club Hele Spurs before joining his hometown Football league club Torquay United, making his professional debut at the age of 17 in April 1949 against Northampton Town. Over the next five years gradually established himself in the first team before, in October 1952, he signed for Cardiff City as part of an agreement between the club and Torquay that Cardiff received first option on their players in exchange for regular loan deals. He was put straight into the side and over the following three seasons he established himself in the irst Division, scoring some vital goals for the club. He left Cardiff in July 1955 to sign for Lincoln City for a fee of £3000, making his debut on 20 August, 1955 against Blackburn Rovers [ [http://www.redimps.co.uk/page/LeagueLegends/0,,10440~893069,00.html "Tommy Northcott"] Redimps.co.uk Retrieved on 29 September, 2008] , but, after three seasons, he returned to his hometown club Torquay for a fee of £5000. In his second spell at the club, he went on to play in over 350 games for the club before moving into non-league football with the likes of Bridgwater Town and Barnstaple Town.
