Dennis Stevenson (born 12 November 1946) was an Australian politician with the Abolish Self-Government Coalition party. He was elected to the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly in the inaugural 1989 ACT elections and served under the 1st and 2nd assemblies, retiring in 1995. He worked vigorously on many issues including abolishing the ACT self-government, campaigning against the Hare-Clark system, for the introduction of Citizens' Initiated Referenda (CIR), banning computer porn[1] and the fledgling ACT pornography industry and other human-rights issues.
He had previously worked as a photogrammatist, company director, operator of health centres and trainer in sales, marketing, public speaking and motivation. He has also worked as a life coach, business consultant, counselor and laborer. Immediately prior to his parliamentary career he was in the NSW Police Force from 1965 to 1973, primarily training Intelligence Section personnel.[2] After resigning he traveled extensively before returning to Canberra.
Since his political career he has moved to Queensland and campaigns full-time on civil-liberties issues including against the water fluoridation[3] and highlighting the decline of Australian democracy. He has MC'ed the Inverell Forum for over 16 years.[4]
