Associate Professor Edward Cheng is an Associate Professor at UC Berkeley, and is best known as the CEO of EGI OMM [http://www.egiomm.com/comp-exemang.jsp] , which is the parent company of social networking site MeetWe.

Early Career

Prior to founding EGI and OCT Research Laboratory, Edward spent 14 years in Silicon Valley holding various management and system architect positions in software R&D organizations. He last held the position of Director of the Collaborative Computing Lab at Oracle Corporation.

He has led R&D teams at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he filed 2 worldwide patents in workflow and OLTP. He was also the technical leader of a development group, which delivered a 2,000% performance improvement on HP SQL in the late eighties.

His research interests include process automation technology, enterprise modeling and management, high performance OLTP systems, journaling and recovery, and distributive databases. He has also served as an adjunct professor with several local universities.
