Planet Of Ixchel

Planet Of Ixchel

Ixchel is a fictional planet located in the galaxy of Pegasus in Universe 5. Ixchel is in an up-and-coming solar system in the outer rim of the Pegasus galaxy and serves as a diverse mid-way point for travelers ranging from galactic defenders to an everyday household traveling to the Surmalee galaxy. Due to its high traffic, growing population, and technologies far ahead of its region, Ixchel is controversially the most influential society in Pegasus.

Background

You may have heard the name Ixchel before. It is freely used to name the Mayan jaguar goddess of medicine [ [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ixchel Wikipedia search "IXCHEL"] ] and was also used in Madeleine L'Engle's popular book "A Wrinkle in Time ["A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle] ". L'Engle refers to Ixchel as a planet with dull, muted colors and large sightless creatures [ [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrinkle_in_time Wikipedia search "A WRINKLE IN TIME"] ] . Although this is not the appropriate illustration, it is one of the only references to the planet.

Society

In a stunning array of cultures and species, the permanent population of the planet varies from humans to "aliens" to fictionous creatures uncapable of speech. Because of this diverisity, it is a desirable place to live and do work. Occupations are almost innumerable as are also the languages and traditions practiced there. Although Ixchel is influenced by many different cultures, the biggest being the Surmaleesian code, it has remained more of an ifluence to the rest of the galaxy than most other worlds.

----

With seemingly dissimilar views on life, it seems that the people of Ixchel would have a difficult time cooperating and working toward the common goal of world-wide advancement. Since this is not the case, many researchers are speculating that independent efforts are forcably being combined under one control. Simply stated, people believe that Ixchel's government may be interfering with the planet's self-proclaimed "free-enterprise" system and are starting to secretly manipulate the major business leaders. If this secret effort is the real reason why Ixchel is advancing so far beyond other planets, it could either spell catastrophe (because this would mean Ixchel's government is much more powerful than expected) or it could mean unity, something with which Ixchel has had a minor struggle.

Government

Please read Society before reading for more information.

The fictional world prides itself as being one of the only societies in the outer rim that boasts elected leaders and leader panel. Having been established relatively long ago, it was the second planet in the outer rim to adopt the idea of elected leadership. It makes more political sense to have nominated heads of government in such a diverse community so that each culture feels represented.

Ixchel has many government projects, one of the most famous being the classified project "Deployment Attempt 6". Still officially unreleased to the public, the project "Deployment Attempt 6" leaked out by way of a retired government official connected to the project. It deals with sending willing experimentees to different worlds, not necessarily within Universe 5. Once deployed, the experimentees don disguises and live amongst the people of that world until they complete an assigned mission. It is rumored that some sujects deployed during the "Deployment Attempt 6" project ended up on Earth and were contained by the government here. We can never confirm this because the information is either classified or because those deployed may be too well concealed.
